Michael's vgLog

Updates

Nothing like checking bookmarks, updating weblinks and even adding some new menus to make me aware of some updates that have been available for several months. I am referring to AIX 6.1 TL01 and AIX 5.3 TL08. Both came out last May, and have been updated recently. Check the Service Bulletins link in the new FastPath menu area to find the Service Bulletins that interest you.

A second new menu is InfoCenters: AIX Information Centers for AIX 6.1 and AIX 5.3, and what is left of  for AIX 5.2 and AIX 5.1 (documentation only now). Enjoy!

Basically, there are four generic DISK_ERR mesages, that are repeated for each disk type, e.g. SCSI, SSA, FC, etc., and have their own specific label. The meaning of the 4 messages is the same for all media.

vgGuides - HOWTO: POWER, AIX and LOP - Step by Step

To my surprise getting the WPAR Manager product installed actually took several attempts to get it right.

In this article I"ll run thru the steps with comments and output. As a bonus I'll also include some of the errors I ran into and also what I did to correct the situation. In short, with the proper preparation installing Workload Partition Manager is quite easy. However, getting the right environment can take some time.
