Title: NIM - Creating lpp_source from TL07 cd
Post by: lior_m on June 03, 2008, 09:10:56 PM
Hi,
I'm trying to create a NIS environment ( Aix 5.3 TL07sp01 ) but I'm having problem creating the lpp_source from TL07sp01 cd.
Do I need to create a "basic" lpp_source from 5.3.0.0 and then update it to the latest TL ? sound strange to me ..
What am I doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance

Lior

You can create a lpp_source from any installable images. However, if it is not installable it will be missing the s_image attribute and you will not be able to create a SPOT, or install AIX systems from it.

If you are having a different problem please supply the error message.

Also, a TL package is mainly updates that require the base fileset. Updates often end with the extension .U or .bff whereas base lpp generally end in .I (or nothing).

The best way to be sure which type it is is to use the command: installp -d <directory or media> -L

Thanks Michael,
You were right.
Any how I created the lpp_source from a bootable Aix 5.3 Tl6 cd and then updated it to TL07.
The SPOT was created after the update.

Actually I made a mistake in my first post. I wrote that I'm having problem creating the lpp_source but obviously I meant creating the "SPOT" from the lpp_source.

Thanks again,

Lior
