Actually the only file you need to install to have all the info on latest patch levels etc, is bos.rte.install

I executed command that you he passed, and had the result below:

Quote
IBMF80:/>instfix -ciqk 5300-05_AIX_ML | grep :-:
5300-05_AIX_ML:devices.msg.en_US.chrp.IBM.HPS.rte:1.2.0.2:1.2.0.0:-:AIX 5300-05e
5300-05_AIX_ML:devices.msg.en_US.common.IBM.sni.ntbl:1.2.0.1:1.2.0.0:-:AIX 5300e
IBMF80:/>

I executed the command with parameter 5300-06 and the result was blank.

Necessary to make download of TL/ML 06 to decide the problem?

The command you can use to find the missing filesets is:

# instfix -ciqk 5300-05_AIX_ML | grep :-:

This will give you output similar to:
Quote
# instfix -ciqk 5300-06_AIX_ML | grep :-:
5300-06_AIX_ML:bos.aixpert.cmds:5.3.0.60:5.3.0.0:-:AIX 5300-06 Update
5300-06_AIX_ML:bos.aixpert.websm:5.3.0.60:5.3.0.0:-:AIX 5300-06 Update

You will need to download the filesets you see listed in your output, if you dont have them already. To be completely at the proper TL (technology level, even if the old ML (maintenance level) abbreviation is still used for instfix.

Michael.

What it can be happening then and as I can decide these problems?

It follows my result:

Quote
IBMF80:/>instfix -i | grep AIX
All filesets for 5.3.0.0_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-01_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-02_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-03_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-04_AIX_ML were found.
Not all filesets for 5300-05_AIX_ML were found.

Well, the system considers all files in the bos.rte.boot fileset to be correct then (that is why there is no output).

That fileset puts you at TL05 something. So next thing to verify is that you are are at TL05 and not some filesets higher.

If you run the command instfix -i | grep AIX do you get something simpliar to the following?
Quote
# instfix -i | grep AIX
All filesets for 5300-02_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5.3.0.0_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-01_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-03_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-04_AIX_ML were found.
All filesets for 5300-05_AIX_ML were found.
Not all filesets for 5300-06_AIX_ML were found.

Michael, thanks for answering the topic.

It follows the exit of the first command, the others two commands had not shown nothing.

IBMF80:/>lslpp -Lc bos.rte.boot
#Package Name:Fileset:Level:State:PTF Id:Fix State:Type:Description:Destination
Dir.:Uninstaller:Message Catalog:Message Set:Message Number:Parent:Automatic:EFI X Locked
bos:bos.rte.boot:5.3.0.50: : :C: :Boot Commands: : : : : : :1:0:

This error message relates to the component bosboot, or the part of AIX that creates boot images.

First of all, you should have root privileges when executing diag. If you have these rights to access files then you you will need to verify your installed files.

So, I guess the first step is to verify your rights and the files installed. One you can answer directly, for the rest there are a few commands to execute:

# lslpp -Lc bos.rte.boot

# lppchk -l bos.rte.boot          # verifies existence of links
# lppchk -v bos.rte.boot         # verifies existence and checksum

For the last two commands, if you get any questionable answers, it may be useful to repeat the command(s) with the argument -m3 to get the most verbose messaging.
