Probably you have older hardware that doesnot do a proper BOOTP request, or you are needing to go past a router.

In the SMS menu you can set the IP address of the client and server. My "jumpy" film should demonstrate the basic steps you will need to follow.

The "2 minute demo".

I'm trying to configure a NIM environment to restore a mksysb image on file. I've configured the NIM master and defined the client. The mksysb image resides on a local filesystem of the master. When I perform the bosinst operation from the SMIT, the client reboots but the installation doesn´t start because the following message appears during startup: Unable to resolve server IP.
And the server boots from the local hard disk instead restoring the mksysb.

I'm using AIX 5100-09 on the master and 5100-07 on the client.

What's wrong?

Thanks.
