Typically, startup scripts are put in /etc and called rc.something. For oracle, a typical startup script would be called /etc/rc.oracle.

To make AIX call it on startup, you can either add it directly into the inittab file or place a call to it in another rc script.

For shutdown, you can set up a script called /etc/rc.shutdown. The shutdown command will run this script at the start of the shutdown process.

hello,
I am a new AIX user,
I want to automate my oracle start/stop and I do not know where can I put my start/stop script.
Do you have the procedure on how to start/stop my oracle automatically (if I shutdown/reboot the server)?
Add'l info, my server is p52A and I have oracle 10g on it.
