My
guess
is that the SUSE linux is not giving an answer AIX can understand, so AIX is using the current time to at least have some output.
It is times like these when I think LINUX means, following GNU,
Linux not UNIX
.
Check on both Linix and AIX for NFS demon "error" notifications, and othewise put a protocol sniffer on the line.
Another experiment would be to do an NFS mount of some AIX files and see what results you get.
NFS is vague is some areas, but AIX tries to be extremely strict in it's implementation of the "standards".

Strange Time Stamp issue

I have an AIX 5.2-05 installation that has an NFS mount to a SUSE 9.3 server that we use to provide SAMBA shares to our Users for read only access.
We discovered a file this morning that when viewed from the Linux server has the time stamp of when it was created; however, when we view the same file from the NFS mount on the AIX system, the time stamp changes to match the current time. If I wait for the next minute and do 'ls' the time stamp changes. This happens each time list the file from the AIX system, but it does NOT change when viewing from the Linux system. Has anyone seen this? Does anyone have any idea how this can happen?
Thanks
