To be honest I didn't really understand the question. And a start and stop script help some, but not when a particular interface fails (e.g. en3).

The principle is that you have a highly available segment (or VLAN) with two NICs per node per (V)LAN. One (V)LAN can support more than one IP Network. And using IP aliasing the service address is not supposed to be in the IP Net of the supporting (V)LAN.

A lot of confusion arises with the differences needed to support IPAT (IP address takeover over multiple nodes) and IP aliasing.

In any case: requirement #1 is that there are multiple NICs per node per (V)LAN. After that, normal IP routing should be able to handle any gateway issues with needing customized event scripts.

There are exceptions of course - which is why event can be customized with pre and post event scripts.

I post a similar question in www.ittoolbox.com and a collegue system admin told me to put the route command in the application script that start and stop the application.

How can I make one IP highly available and specific to the NIC (e.g.en3)of the node and during failover this IP will move to 2nd priority node on the specific NIC (e.g.en3). The gateway will also move to the 2nd node as it is defined in the first node which is different from DG.
