My firm has been retained by a Fortune 50 Employer in California who is very interested in hiring several individuals for a key roles within there IT organization.

UNIX SYSTEMS AIX ENGINEER Walnut Creek, CA / Phoenix, AZ
Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:
• Minimum 8 years experience in a specific Systems Technology area in a large-scale, distributed, corporate environment. 5+ years of this experience in UNIX system engineering in large multi-server multi-platform environments. AIX experience is required, strong preference for Linux and some Solaris would be desirable. • Minimum 3 years in a senior level technical role required. • Minimum 5 years of experience in the retail industry preferred. • B.Sc in a technical field, Computer Science preferred. • DMZ design and management experience and awareness of security risks of publicly accessible networks is required • Experience with DB2/UDB, Informix or Teradata, Websphere/JBOSS, Veritas products, BMC PATROL, Control-M or Control-SA, or iPlanet products will all be advantageous • LPAR knowledge and experience in an AIX 5.3 environment required • VIO and micro-partitioning experience required • HACMP experience required • Experience with security related products including SSH, TCPwrappers, IP360, PowerBroker is preferred • Prior experience with assessment and mitigation of security risks, management and response to security incidents. Industry security certification would be advantageous • Shell scripting ability is required. • Linux virtualization experience on multiple hardware platforms, including zLinux, would be advantageous. • Strong experience in server-side technologies, database integration issues, and content management systems. • Strong ability to document completely and accurately at all levels of solution development and implementation, following procedural steps, as directed, to assure compliance with Federal guidelines, policies, and laws, including those that drive Sarbanes Oxley and internal Safeway policies. • Experience with ITIL, RUP, MS Project, Visio, MS Office is highly desirable. • Experience as a developer is highly desirable. • The ability to design and execute a mid-size project is required. • Strong understanding of Service Desk, Incident Management, Problem Management, Change Management, Configuration Management and Computer Operations IT disciplines is required. • Results oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action. • Comfortable with ambiguity as needs change on a regular basis. • Able to coordinate multiple initiatives and projects in a fast paced environment • High degree of initiative and sense of urgency. • Good interpersonal, communication and listening skills • Demonstrated commitment to improving the technical environment • Able to analyze problems, propose solutions, and drive issues to resolution • Able to lead and influence others and be influenced gracefully • Results oriented, willing to take responsibility and accept accountability for action • Genuine desire to provide superior customer service to our I/T customers

• Engineer reliable, scalable, supportable solutions with high emphasis on speed-to-market and lifecycle management. • Maintain a common documentation library of standardized procedures and configurations. • Cultivate, support, and promote an organizational culture that provides for high performance, high morale, integrity, and teamwork. • Act as a role model and change agent by providing leadership and direction for team members. • Willingness to travel as required ensuring the success of the organization. • Work with business representatives, IT Management, IT development, support teams and vendors to ensure on time, on budget, and quality delivery of technical solutions that support the strategic direction of the business and IT. • Prepare the necessary documentation to ensure steady state support handoff to the support organization. • Provide 24x7 3rd level support for all products, solutions or processes as assigned and in accordance with internal UNIX Engineering Management standards and procedures.
