As you stated, bootinfo is (largely) undocumented and unsupported since AIX 4.2 If I remember correctly).
Regarding NIM and boot networks: the main requirement for a nim network is that it support DHCP/bootp requests. NIM itself does not do anything special. NIM relies on AIX.
And as I write this I realize that the answer/question should be: Does AIX support network boots on FDDI and token-ring.
And I'll have to look that one up too. I would assume - if AIX bosboot can make a boot image for either, then it should work.

Changes to bootinfo command in AIX 6.1

I recently installed AIX 6.1 and found that the output of a "bootinfo -c" was different than on my AIX 5.3 systems. I have been able to script around the changes, but anyone noticed other changes to this "undocumented and unsupported" command?
I also noticed that the -c flag did not give me the type of network device I booted from. Does this mean network boot is limited to ethernet and 802.3?
Does NIM still support FDDI and token-ring for 6.1?
Thanks.
