In short, I believe the answer is yes, as it happens frequently in LPAR situations - when the disk(s) being servered via a VIO Server are enlarged.

The magic for this: at least what I use in these cases is:

chvg -g (or chvg -G)

Wink I forget whether it is lower or uppercase, but the letter I remember as "grow".

Dear AIXer,

I have a p55A with this config :
4-way Procs
8GB RAM
2 x 73GB 15K RPM HDD (O/S mirrored)
4 x 73GB 15K RPM HDD (RAID-5, recognized as hdisk2 and vg name=datavg)
2 x 4-pack U320 SCSI (standard, connected to on-board SCSI)
1 x SCSI Daughter Card
We need more space in the 'datavg' and in the PCI-X raid manager, we are able to add RAID-5 member (let's say I want to add 1 x 73GB into the existing RAID). So at the RAID manager level, my RAID-5 become 5 x 73GB. But in the VG level my space still haven't changed.
Why I want to do this because I want the datavg (consists of our data still under RAID-5 protection).
Can we grow the VG (datavg) after I add RAID member into the existing RAID ?
Anyone of AIXer has done this before ?
Thanks a lot!
David
